TINDORA / KOVAKAI RICE
I used to give any vegetable rice in my husband's lunch box. I make this tindora rice often which i have mentioned as alternate method. One of my daughter's school friend's mom told me this recipe, i tried it came out well.
Ingredients
Tindora – 200 gms (finely chopped)
Rice – 1 cup
Onion – 1
Turmeric powder – 1 pinch
Chili powder – 1 tsp
Garam Masala – ½ tsp
Oil . mustard seeds , curry leaves for tampering
To Grind to paste
Grated coconut – 1 tbsp
Garlic – 2 cloves
Ginger – ½ “ piece
Red chili – 1
Cumin seeds – ½ Tbsp
Method
1. In a pan heat oil and saute all the things mentioned for grinding and make a paste.
2. In a pan, heat oil and tamper mustard seeds, curry leaves and add finely chopped

3. Add turmeric powder, chili powder. Add the grinded masala and saute well.Add
The tindoras, salt and the garam masala.
4. After the raw smell of masala gone add the rice and 2 cups of water and cook till

Alternate Method
1. In a pan heat oil and tamper mustard seeds etc.
2. Add the chopped Onions, turmeric powder, chili powder and salt.
3. Add the tindoras (you can microwave the tindora) and cook well.
4. Add cooked rice to that mixture. It is easy to make.
