PAPAYA SMOOTHIE

When I was discussing with my friend she told me the recipe, I added some ingredients , it was tasting so good. Kids and Hubby dear enjoyed this. Usually i add sugar , this was a different one. Healthy and refreshing and filling too.




INGREDIENTS

Papaya chopped - 1 cup
Curd -  1 cup
Ice cubes - 6 to 7
Black Salt - 1/2 tsp
Chat masala  1/2 tsp
Mint leaves  -  10
Ginger - 1/2 inch piece (optional)



METHOD

In a blender combine all the ingredients and run until it blends together.

Enjoy the refreshing drink.

PALAK ROTI AND GREEN BUTTERMILK

Hi !!! I am back again :-) Gautham's school has started. Since he is in LKG they asked parents to wait there, after coming back in the hot sun I was so.. tried. My sister visited us, so I was little busy. since i am coming back after dropping back both the kids, I will be updating my blog and i will visit all your blogs too.

My daughter likes to take chapati for lunch. So, i have to think something daily, which should be a balanced diet and nutritious. Usually, i grind my atta by adding Soy bean and Channa to make protein rich. I add any vegetable to that and give her with Curd. She likes it so... much.


Ingredients

Palak leaves chopped - 1 cup
Chopped onions - 1/4 cup
chili powder, salt and garam masala to taste
Atta required to make dough



Method

1. Steam the palak leaves in microwave.
2. Combine palak, chili powder, garam masala , salt and add atta to make a dough.
3. Roll it as chapatti,
4. Heat a griddle and toast the roti with Ghee.
5. Serve with Curd.

Green Buttermilk

Ingredients

Curd - 1/2 cup
Cilantro - 1/2 cup
salt, pepper powder as per taste
water


Method

1. Grind the cilantro and extract the juice.

2. Add curd, water , salt and pepper powder to that and blend well.

CORN PULAO , AAM PANNA AND AN AWARD

I learnt this from the TV show Pengal.com in Mega Tv. I regularly watch that program In that one lady Mrs. Meena used to do lots of dishes, I think she has lived in abroad for so many years and now she has settled in India. I have tried lots of dishes and all came out Yum.
There was an annual programme in Janani's music class , when we went there I saw this lady I was surprised. After long time hesitation i spoke to her and told her I love her programme. She was so happy . Her son who is 11 years old and Janani is in the same batch and they performed. She live in the same street where our house was.

I am leaving to Coimbatore tonight and will be back on 8 th may. I think I can go to browsing centre and check my blog but i can't visit your blogs.



Corn Puloa

Ingredients


Basmati rice - 1 cup
Corn - 1 cup
Onion - 1 medium size
Paneer - 1/2 cup ( for garnishing)
Pepper - 1/4 tsp ( I used Italian seasoning)
Sugar - 1/2 tsp
Garam masala - 1 tsp
Green chili - 2 ( slit length wise)
Salt to taste
Cashew - 10 for garnishing
Butter , oil - for cooking

Method

1. Soak in a micro safe bowl the corn adding some water.
2 .Cook basmathi rice and sprinkle few drops of ghee and mix it so that it won't stick together.
3. Cook the corn in microwave with the water for 2 minutes.


4. Heat butter and roast the cashews and keep it aside.
5. In the same pan add oil and add Onions and green chili and saute.
6. Chop paneer n to small pieces , fry the paneer pieces in a non stick pan adding salt and Pepper powder ( I used Italian seasoning)


7. When the onions are turned pink add the corn after draining the water.
8. Add Garam masala, salt and saute.
9. After the masala's raw smell goes, add the cooked rice and mix well.
10. Garnish with Paneer and cashew.

Goes well with Raita or plain curd.

Aam Panna - Raw Mango Drink

I learnt this from my friend Bhawana. I like this so.. much it is so refreshing.


Ingredients

Raw mango - 1
Sugar - as per taste
Pepper powder - one pinch
Chat masala - one generous pinch

Method

1. Peel the skin and cut the mango in to big chunks and boil it.
2. Make a sugar syrup (only to dissolve the sugar) . Mash the Boiled mango to make a pulp and ad that to sugar syrup.
3. Adjust the sugar as per the sourness of the mango.
4. Add chat masala and pepper to that.
5. serve chilled.

BEAT THE HEAT!!!

Chennai is so hot nowadays, can't go out in the morning. My routine all has changed because this weather and kids are also home. Even to buy vegetables I am going in the evening. Since , kids are in home I prepare some juices for snacks around 11 Am. Me and Janani are going for swimming classes, my Lil one will also accompany us and he will play in the kids pool with his ball, in between he will order Janani to accompany , he will also ask the coach to teach him and imitate what the other kids are doing and he will ask the coach to correct him too, Gautham is really naughty!!.

I don't even feel like standing in the kitchen, I will be sweating all the time because of the heat. But when I serve them both of them say Amma Super aa erukku, I will be recharged :-) . Gautham will hold his thumb and index finger together and say Superla eruukku, ( he can't pronounce R properly) I feel I am a great chef :-)



Carrot Orange Juice

I read this recipe in Malligai Magal Book. I just tried it tasted Yum!!

Ingredients

Carrot - 2
Orange - 2
Honey - 1 tbsp

1. Extract separately Carrot juice and Orange juice.
2. Combine equal amount of orange and carrot juice add honey and blend it.


Neer Moar - Buttermilk


This is will be so refreshing especially when you go out in the hot sun , if you drink this it is so... nice.


Ingredients

Curd - 2 tbsp
Oil, mustard seeds, curry leaves
Ginger - 1/4 inch
Green chili - 1/2
Salt as per taste ( I used both black salt and normal salt)
Hing one generous pinch
1. Chop finely the Green chili , crush the ginger.
2. Blend the curd adding sufficient amount of water, add hing and salt.
3. Heat oil and temper mustard seeds, green chili, ginger and curry leaves.
4. Add this to the blended curd.
The smell of ginger , curry leaves will be yum!!


Cocoa Milk Shake

Janani didn't want her same bounvita or complan for evening. Sometimes I make milk shake out of bournvita too. For a change I Made this cocoa Milk shake , they enjoyed it.

Ingredients

Cocoa Powder - 2 tbsp
Milk - 2 cups ( chilled)
Sugar - 2 tbsp


Combine all the ingredients in a mixer and blend it, you can use ice cubes too.


Musk Melon Juice


This is my father in laws favourite. Even though he is diabetic he will ask me to cut in to fine pieces and add powdered jaggery to that and relish. If i scold him for jaggery he will say jaggery is good for diabetics :-), I miss him when i make this. This time i blend this as a juice, it tasted Yum!!

Ingredients

Musk Melon - 1
Jaggery - 1/4 cup
Ice cubes - 6 to 7


Combine all the ingredients in a blender and enjoy the cooler.


Banana Cashew Milk Shake

I tried by adding some cashews to the normal milk shake both of them enjoyed as a evening drink.


Ingredients

Banana - 2
cashew - 10
Milk - 2 cups ( chilled)
Sugar - 2 tbsp
Elachi powder - one generous pinch




Combine all the ingredients and blend it together. Enjoy by garnishing with cashews.


Pomegranate Sweet Lime Juice


This is my father in laws favourite. I tasted this in Delhi, i liked the taste, even though i make in home , still i love to have in Delhi.

Ingredients

Pomegranate - 1 medium size
Sweet lime - 3 or 4
Black salt - 1/2 tbsp
Sugar - 1/2 tbsp
Ice cubes - few


Extract sweet lime juice using a Citrus press. Combine the sweet lime juice and pomegranate in a blender add salt and sugar, blend it with ice cubes.


Mix Fruit Juice

This I tasted in Vegetable shop where I go to buy vegetables and Fruits, i don't like papaya, so when they mix all the fruits you don't feel the smell of papaya in that. So my choice is this to sneak papaya in my diet.

Ingredients

Mango - 1/2 cup
Papaya - 1/2 cup
Pomegranate - 1/2 cup
Chikoo - 1/2 cup
Sweet lime juice - 1/2 cup
Sugar - 2 tbsp
Ice cubes - few

Combine all the ingredients in a blender and enjoy the chilled juice, if you want you can add milk too.

APPLE BANANA MILK SHAKE


I learnt this from my appa. My appa after his retirement is so helpful to amma by chopping vegetables etc. He prepares delicious juice. We enjoy his milk shakes, juice etc. But my mom will be I trouble :-) whenever he prepares juice because the cleaning part is hers, lots of vessels will be in the sink etc. :-)

Ingredients
Apple – 1
Banana – 1
Milk – 2 cups
Sugar – as per taste ( optional)
Dry fruits for garnishing
Ice cubes – 2 or 3 ( optional)
Method

1. Cut the apple and the banana.
2. Combine the fruits, milk, ice cubes and the Sugar ( if you want) in a blender and blend nicely.
3. Garnish with dry fruits and serve.

Milk is a good source of calcium and fruits are rich in vitamins. Since it is good for health this entry goes to Eat healthy during pregnancy hosted by Sangeeth and
