BROKEN WHEAT/ DHALIYA PORRIDGE
This recipe I learnt from my friend Bhawana. It is easy to prepare and tastes yum. It's rich in fibre. We can make and keep in the fridge and change the consistency whenever we need. I used to have when I was in family way. Now I used to prepare when I am fasting since it keeps you long without hunger. My kids also like this.
Ingredients
Broken Wheat – 1 cup
Milk – 11/2 cups
Water – ½ cup
Sugar – 3 to 4 spoons
Ghee – 1 tbsp
Any fruit – 1 (optional)
(Apple, Banana)
Method
1. Roast dhaliya in ghee. (it should not turn brown)
2. In a pressure pan add dhaliya water and half quantity of milk.
3. Leave for 3 whistles.
4. Add sugar ( you can add according to taste) and milk.
5. If the consistency is thick add water or milk as per your taste.
6. You can add your choice of chopped fruit and enjoy.
You can make this in microwave also. If you are dieting you can roast dhaliya in dry pan and add sugar free instead of Sugar. If you want to keep in fridge add only water when boiling.
